1. Add SpecStream to librechat.yaml
Add SpecStream under
mcpServersinlibrechat.yaml. SpecStream is a remote server that uses Streamable HTTP, so the type isstreamable-http. SettingrequiresOAuthexplicitly saves LibreChat from detecting it at startup:librechat.yaml - 2
2. Restart LibreChat
A change to
librechat.yamltakes a restart to apply. - 3
3. Connect and sign in
In a chat, open the + palette (Attach and tools) and click SpecStream under MCP Servers. In the Connect dialog, select Continue with OAuth, sign in to SpecStream or create an account, and approve the access. LibreChat can register itself with SpecStream, so you do not need a client ID or secret. The provider redirects to
${DOMAIN_SERVER}/api/mcp/specstream/oauth/callback. The server namespecstreamis the key you used in the file. Requests run on the account that signed in, with its balance and spending limits. - 4
4. Ask for data
With SpecStream selected, describe the records you want and the details to bring back on each one:
In a LibreChat chat
What happens when you ask
SpecStream reads the request back, then quotes the most it can cost. Nothing runs until you approve that price. Rows arrive with the source URL and read time on every value.
Use it in an agent
In the Agent Builder, select Add next to Tools, open the Tool Library, and filter to MCP servers. Keep the SpecStream tools the agent needs.
Or connect with an API key
In SpecStream, open Agents & API, choose API keys, then Create API key, and set a total spending limit. Set SPECSTREAM_API_KEY in the environment LibreChat runs with, and use a header in place of OAuth. Set requiresOAuth to false so LibreChat does not mistake a static header for OAuth:
Cost
Connecting SpecStream to LibreChat is free. Reading a request and pricing it cost nothing. Each matching row costs 5¢, 15¢ or $1, depending on how much the row needs, plus 5¢ for a person's email and 15¢ for a phone. A quote lasts 30 minutes, a run can't cost more than the maximum you approved, and a run that finds nothing costs nothing. Balance, quotes, and billing has the details.
Disconnect
Remove the specstream entry from librechat.yaml and restart LibreChat. To end its access on the SpecStream side, open Agents & API in your workspace, choose OAuth applications, and revoke LibreChat, or revoke the key under API keys. Your saved results stay in your workspace. Questions go to [email protected].
