Ask for live web data in a personal chat with the SpecStream app in Microsoft Teams. The price shows in a card before anything runs, and the results come with the page each value was read from.

SpecStream for Microsoft TeamsChat & work
The SpecStream app: coming soon

The SpecStream app isn't in the Teams app store yet. Until it is, ask for the same data from your workspace, write Outlook drafts and send lists to Excel workbooks in OneDrive or SharePoint from Connections, or add the MCP server at https://api.specstream.ai/mcp to an AI assistant. Prices, limits and approvals are the same everywhere.

What you need

  • A SpecStream account. New accounts start with $10 of work for 30 days and no card.
  • A Microsoft 365 account with Teams.
  1. 1. Add SpecStream to Teams

In Teams, select Apps in the left rail, search for SpecStream and select Add.

You can also start in SpecStream. Open Connections, where Microsoft Teams is listed under Chat, and select Authorize Microsoft Teams. Requests and quotes stay private to you.

  2. 2. Send your first request

Open your chat with SpecStream and describe what you need in plain words, for example:

    A request
Food banks in Texas with their annual revenue
  3. 3. Connect your SpecStream account

The first time, SpecStream replies with a card that asks you to connect your account. Nothing has run and nothing has been charged. Select Connect SpecStream on the card. The link works once and expires after 10 minutes. Sign in to SpecStream when it asks.

The Connect Microsoft Teams page asks which key the app uses. Create a key for chat makes one named "Microsoft Teams chat" with the permissions any new key gets, and it expires after 365 days. Use a key I saved takes a key you made in Agents & API.

Select Connect Microsoft Teams, then go back to Teams and send your request again. It runs on this account now.

Each person connects their own account, so each person's requests run and bill on it. The page also offers Delegate access for the new key. You can skip it, because the app asks you to approve each price.

  4. 4. Approve the price

Send the request again. The card shows how SpecStream read it, the most it can cost, and a button that starts with Approve up to and the amount. Nothing runs until you select it.

The card also names the fewest matches a run must find. Below that number you pay nothing and none are kept.

Add balance opens billing in your workspace. Balance is added there and never from the chat.

  5. 5. Follow the run and get the results

After you approve, a card says where the request stands and how much is set aside. Select Check status to see the latest. Check payment reads the payment again.

When the list is ready, the card gives the number of matches with Get CSV and Open workspace. Get CSV makes a private download link that works once. Open workspace opens the list with the page behind every value.

Insert a list in a message

The app can also put one of your lists in a message as a card. In the compose box of a chat or channel, select Actions and apps, or type @SpecStream, and pick SpecStream. Search your lists finds a list or a match inside one. Your lists shows your newest lists with their number of matches, and How many sets how many to show, from 1 to 25. Leave it empty for 10.

Select a card and send it. The card opens the list in your workspace, and opening it asks for a SpecStream sign-in. Search and Your lists only read, so they start no work and spend nothing.

In Outlook on the web, start a New message, choose Apps on the ribbon and open SpecStream. A card there only opens the list.

If a reply says it didn't go through

Open the request in SpecStream first to see whether it started, so nothing runs twice. If the key the app uses expired or was revoked, open Connections, disconnect Microsoft Teams, then send a message in Teams to get a new connect card.

Permissions and data

The app works in a personal chat and asks Teams for the identity permission. Nothing runs or is charged from a team or channel.

SpecStream receives the messages you write to it and the cards you select. It doesn't read channels, group chats or files. Each message stays encrypted until SpecStream has replied, and SpecStream keeps your Microsoft tenant ID and Teams user ID to link you to your account. See the privacy policy and security.

How SpecStream uses AI

SpecStream uses AI models to read your request and the pages it collects, so a result can be wrong. Each value carries the page it was read from and when, and you can open that page.

Cost

The Teams app is free on every plan. Requests are paid from your SpecStream balance, only for the matches, and each one shows its maximum before it starts. See pricing for the rates and balance, quotes and billing for how funds work.

Remove

Open Configured in Connections, open the actions menu (⋯) on Microsoft Teams and select Disconnect. If you made the "Microsoft Teams chat" key for chat, revoke it under Agents & API in API keys.

Removing the app in Teams, under Apps and Manage your apps, doesn't tell SpecStream, so disconnect in Connections too. Your lists remain in the workspace. More tools are listed in Connect your tools. Questions go to [email protected].

More

SpecStream for Microsoft Teams covers what it does in Microsoft Teams on one page. Every other tool has its guide in Connect your tools. You see the most a request can cost before it starts, and only the matches come out of your balance. Billing has the details. For help, email [email protected].
