SpecStream for RaycastChat & work
The extension isn't in the Raycast Store yet. Until it is, ask for the same data from your workspace, or add the MCP server at https://api.specstream.ai/mcp to an AI assistant with an API key from Agents & API. Prices, limits and approvals work the same everywhere.
What you need
- A SpecStream account, where you make the key.
- Raycast on a Mac.
- A SpecStream API key. Step 2 makes one.

1. Install the extension
In Raycast, open Store, search for SpecStream and install the extension. It adds the New request command.

2. Create an API key
In SpecStream, open Agents & API, choose API keys and select Create API key. Name it Raycast.
Leave the default permissions on, including Authorize paid work, so the extension can start a request after you approve its price. Under Total spending limit, select Set a total limit to cap everything the key can spend. The limit applies in Raycast too.
Expires after, days starts at 30 and goes up to 365. Select Create API key and copy the key. It isn't shown again.

3. Add the key to Raycast
Run New request. The first time, Raycast asks for the extension's preferences. Paste the key into API key. Leave API origin as it is unless support asks you to change it.

4. Ask for the data
In What do you need?, describe the data in plain words, for example:

5. Check the price
Open the action panel (⌘K) and choose Check My Request. Raycast shows how SpecStream read the request under How SpecStream read it, and the most it can cost under Price. To change the request, edit it and check again.

6. Approve and run
Type the maximum from the price line into Type the maximum to approve, without the currency symbol, then choose Approve and Run. Nothing starts before you do.
If your balance is short, Review in SpecStream or Add Balance opens the quote in your workspace.

7. Open the results
Raycast waits for the run and lists the matches, each with its first value as the title and the next values beside it. Choose Open in SpecStream to see the full list with the page behind every value. Start Another Request clears the screen for the next one.
If a run takes longer than a minute, Raycast says it is still running. Reopen New request and choose Reopen This Request. Nothing new starts.
If a request can't be priced
When a request isn't complete enough to price, Raycast says so and asks you to refine it in the workspace first. Nothing is charged.
Your key sets the limits
The extension runs on its key. The key's permissions, projects and spending limit apply in Raycast as they do anywhere else, and revoking the key stops the extension at once.
Where your request is kept
Raycast keeps the request you are working on in its local storage on your Mac, so reopening New request brings it back.
Cost
The extension is free. You pay from your SpecStream balance, and only for the matches. SpecStream never charges a card from Raycast and never goes past the maximum you approved. A new account comes with $10 of work for 30 days and no card. The pricing page lists the rates, and balance, quotes and billing covers the rest.
Remove
Uninstall the extension in Raycast's Extensions settings. To stop it at once, revoke the key under Agents & API in API keys, with Revoke in the key's menu. Results already in SpecStream are kept.
