Slack

Ask SpecStream for live web data without leaving Slack. Type /specstream and what you need in plain words: companies, local businesses, people at companies, job posts, tenders, grants. SpecStream reads it, shows the most it can cost, and runs it on your own account when you approve. Every value comes with the page it came from.

Add to Slack

  1. Click Add to Slack. Sign in to SpecStream, or create a free account, and you land on the Slack connection.
  2. Choose the Slack workspace and click Allow. A workspace admin may need to approve the app first.
  3. In any channel or DM, type /specstream. The first time, SpecStream asks you to connect your own account, so every request runs and bills on it.

Each person in the workspace connects their own SpecStream account. Your requests, prices and results are visible only to you.

Ask for data

Type /specstream followed by your request, for example:

/specstream Dentists in Austin TX rated 4.5 or higher with a phone number

SpecStream replies with how it read the request and the most it can cost, with a button to Approve that amount. Nothing runs until you click it. If fewer results match than the reply says, you pay nothing and none are kept.

When the run ends, the reply tells you how many matches it found. Download them as a CSV right there, through a private link that works once, or open the list in your workspace to see the page behind every value. Balance is only added in the workspace, never from Slack.

Ask Slackbot

Slackbot can use SpecStream too. Open a DM with Slackbot, click Apps in its toolbar, then + next to SpecStream, and sign in to your SpecStream account. Then ask in the conversation, like "find roofing contractors in Phoenix with a phone number and show me the price". Slackbot asks before it uses SpecStream unless you choose Always allow, and nothing paid runs until you approve its price.

Your lists

Type /specstream on its own, or /specstream lists, to see up to ten of your lists, with how many rows each has and a button to open it.

Post new matches in a channel

A monitor keeps a list current on a schedule. Invite SpecStream to a channel, then turn on Post in Slack in the monitor and name the channel. Each time it finds new or changed records, SpecStream posts how many and their names there, with a button to open them in your workspace.

Permissions

The app asks Slack for five permissions:

  • commands, to add /specstream.
  • mcp:connect, to offer SpecStream to Slackbot.
  • chat:write, to post a monitor's new matches in the channel you choose.
  • channels:read and groups:read, to find that channel, public or private.

SpecStream doesn't read your messages, files or members. It sees only what you type after /specstream and the buttons you click in its replies. Each workspace's Slack token is stored encrypted. See the privacy policy and security.

How SpecStream uses AI

SpecStream uses AI models to read your request and the pages it collects, so results can be wrong. Every value carries the page it came from and when it was read, so you can open the source. The AI services SpecStream uses don't keep what they read and may not train their models on it.

Cost

The Slack app is free on every plan. Runs are paid from your SpecStream balance, only for the results that match, and every one shows the most it can cost before it starts. New accounts get $10 of work free, no card. See pricing and balance, quotes and billing.

Remove

Disconnect Slack from Connections in SpecStream, or remove the app in Slack under Settings & administration > Manage apps. Lists you made stay in your workspace. The other tools SpecStream works with are in Connect your tools. For help, email [email protected].
