Asana

Turn a task into live web data: the prospects to call, the suppliers to compare, the venues to book. Ask in plain words from the task, approve the price, and every record arrives as a subtask with the page it was read on.

Add the app

1. In a project, open Customize, click + Add app and choose SpecStream. You can also start from the Asana app directory (opens in a new tab) Coming soon.
2. A window opens. Allow SpecStream to see who you are in Asana and to read and write tasks.
3. Sign in to SpecStream, or create an account, and approve the connection. Starting is free: new accounts get $10 of work, no card.

Each person connects their own SpecStream account the first time they use the app, and what they find is paid from that account.

Find from a task

Open a task in the project and click Find with SpecStream. When the task's name reads like a request, the form starts from it. Fill in:

• What to find, in plain words. For example: 25 roofing companies in Columbus, Ohio with their website and phone
• How many: as the request says, or 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100.
• Add each record as a subtask, on unless you only want the list.

Approve the price

When you change the request or the number, the form shows the most it can cost, for example At most $2.50 for up to 25 results. Tick Approve up to the price and submit. Nothing runs before you approve, and if the price changed in the meantime, the form asks you to approve the new one.

Follow it on the task

The list is attached to the task. Its card shows whether SpecStream is still finding, then how many records it found, or the record's values when there's one. When the list is finished, each record becomes a subtask, once, with its values and the page behind each in the subtask's description. Click the card to open the list in your SpecStream workspace.

Attach a list you have

Click Attach a SpecStream list on a task and search your lists by name, or paste a list's link from your SpecStream workspace into the task. Attaching a list you already have costs nothing.

Permissions and data

SpecStream asks Asana to read and write tasks (tasks:read, tasks:write). It reads the name of the task you open the form from, and writes only the subtasks for records you asked for. SpecStream answers only requests signed by Asana that haven't expired.

Your Asana token and the link to your SpecStream account are stored encrypted on SpecStream's servers and never sent to your browser. See the privacy policy and security.

How SpecStream uses AI

SpecStream uses AI models to read your request and the pages it collects, so results can be wrong. Every record carries the page it came from, so you can open the source before you rely on it. The AI services SpecStream uses don't keep what they read and may not train their models on it.

Cost

The app is free. Requests are paid from your SpecStream balance, only for the results that match, and a search that finds nothing is free. See pricing and balance, quotes and billing.

Remove the app

In the project, open Customize, choose SpecStream and remove it. To end SpecStream's access to your Asana account, open My settings > Apps in Asana and deauthorize SpecStream; SpecStream deletes its link the next time it needs your Asana access.
