Warp

Ask Warp's agent for records from the live web in plain words, see the price before anything runs, and get structured rows back in the terminal.

SpecStream for WarpCoding agents

What you need

  • Warp, with its agent.
  • A SpecStream account. New accounts get $10 of work on sign-up, no card. Create one.
  1. 1. Open MCP servers

    In Warp, open Settings, then Agents, then MCP servers. You can also search for Open MCP Servers in the Command Palette.

  2. 2. Add SpecStream

    Click + Add and paste this entry. SpecStream is a remote server, so it takes a url:

    Warp MCP server
    {
    "mcpServers": {
    "specstream": {
    "url": "https://api.specstream.ai/mcp"
    }
    }
    }
  3. 3. Sign in to SpecStream

    Start the server from the MCP servers page. With no saved sign-in, Warp opens SpecStream in your browser. Sign in or create an account, and approve the access Warp asks for. Warp keeps the sign-in on this computer and asks again on a new one.

  4. 4. Ask the agent

    Describe the records you want and the details to bring back on each one:

    In Warp's agent
    Find open-source Rust crates that parse PDF files, with each one's license, latest release date, and repository.
  5. 5. Or connect with an API key

    Use a key on a machine with no browser. In the workspace, open Agents & API, choose API keys, then Create API key, and set a total limit. Then add it to the entry as a header:

    Warp MCP server with a key
    {
    "mcpServers": {
    "specstream": {
    "url": "https://api.specstream.ai/mcp",
    "headers": {
    "Authorization": "Bearer <your SpecStream API key>"
    }
    }
    }
    }

What happens when you ask

SpecStream reads the request back, then quotes the most it can cost. Nothing runs until you approve that price. Rows arrive with the source URL and read time on every value.

Keep it in a file

Warp also reads servers from ~/.warp/.mcp.json for every project, or from .warp/.mcp.json at a repo's root for one. Use the same mcpServers entry. Warp starts the global file's servers on its own, and a repo's servers only after you turn them on from the MCP servers page.

Share it with your team

Share the entry without an Authorization header. Each teammate then signs in with their own SpecStream account and spends from it.

Cost

Connecting SpecStream to Warp is free. Reading a request and pricing it cost nothing. Each matching row costs 5¢, 15¢ or $1, depending on how much the row needs, plus 5¢ for a person's email and 15¢ for a phone. A quote lasts 30 minutes, a run can't cost more than the maximum you approved, and a run that finds nothing costs nothing. Balance, quotes, and billing has the details.

Disconnect

Stop or delete SpecStream on Warp's MCP servers page, where you can also revoke its saved sign-in. On the SpecStream side, open Agents & API, choose OAuth applications, and revoke Warp, or revoke the key under API keys. Your saved results stay in your workspace. Questions go to [email protected].

More

SpecStream for Warp covers what it does in Warp on one page. Every other tool has its guide in Connect your tools. You see the most a request can cost before it starts, and the matches are paid from your balance. Billing has the details. For help, email [email protected].
