KiroComing soon
Ask Kiro for live web data in your own words and get structured records back, each value next to the page it was read from. SpecStream shows the price before anything runs, and you pay only for the matches.
SpecStream for KiroCoding agentsUntil SpecStream appears in the Powers panel, add the server to ~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json with an API key, as the last step shows.
What you need
- A SpecStream account. New accounts get $10 of work free for 30 days, no card.
- Kiro, with its Powers panel.
- 1
1. Add the power
Open the Powers panel in Kiro, find SpecStream, and add it.
The power connects Kiro to the SpecStream server at
https://api.specstream.ai/mcpand includes skills for each stage of a request: reading it, pricing it, approving the price, and working with the results. - 2
2. Sign in to SpecStream
The first time Kiro calls SpecStream, your browser opens the SpecStream sign-in page. Sign in, review the access Kiro asks for, and approve it. The power never asks you to paste a key.
- 3
3. Ask Kiro for the data
Describe the records you want in a Kiro chat, along with the details to bring back on each one. For example:
In a Kiro chat - 4
4. Or connect with an API key
Use a key on a server or in CI, where there is no browser to sign in with. In the workspace, open Agents & API, choose API keys, then choose Create API key. Give it the access the task needs, an expiry, and a spending limit. Copy it when it appears, because it isn't shown again.
Export the key as
SPECSTREAM_API_KEY, approve that variable under Mcp Approved Env Vars in Kiro's settings, and add the server to~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json. The header refers to the variable by name, so the key never lands in the file.~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json
What comes back
Kiro first says back how SpecStream read your request. SpecStream then gives the price, the most the work can cost. Nothing starts until you approve it. While the work runs, rows arrive with their values, the page each value was read from, and the time it was read.
Ask Kiro for a CSV, Excel, JSON, or HTML download. It can also send selected rows to Google Sheets, Excel, Notion, Airtable, HubSpot, or Salesforce once you've connected that tool under Connections in SpecStream, or write an Outlook draft into your own Drafts folder. SpecStream never sends the draft. Reading, exporting, and sharing results cost nothing.
Skills in the power
Each skill covers one stage of a request.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
specstream-compile | Reads your request back to you before anything runs. |
specstream-review-work | Gets the price and shows when it expires. |
specstream-approve-work | Starts the paid work when you approve that price. |
specstream-continue-work | Reads every row, sends results on, brings back more, refreshes them, and sets up monitors. |
Keep results current
Ask Kiro to set up a monitor and SpecStream reruns the request on a schedule, then tells you what changed. A monitor takes a scope, how often to run, how long it stays valid, and a limit per run and per period. Creating a monitor doesn't fund it. Each run is paid from your balance, and rechecking results you already have costs half the usual rate.
More on monitors and schedules.
Limits and cost
Reading a request and getting its price are free. A match costs 10 cents, 30 cents, or $1, depending on how much detail the result carries. Asking for a person's email adds 10 cents to that match, and asking for a phone adds 25 cents. A request that finds nothing costs nothing. A price lasts 30 minutes. See pricing.
Kiro works on your account, with your balance and your permissions. A key with read or prepare access can read prices but can't start paid work. Only execute access can. Plans and top-ups live in your SpecStream account, never in the chat.
What the power sends
Your requests, and your answers to a price, are sent to api.specstream.ai over HTTPS. Results come back from the same host. The power is configuration and skill files, so it runs nothing on your machine.
Disconnect
Revoke Kiro's access from Settings in your SpecStream workspace, or revoke the API key under Agents & API. The next request made with a revoked key fails. Saved results stay in your workspace. Questions go to [email protected]. The other tools SpecStream works with are in Connect your tools.
More
SpecStream for Kiro covers what it does in Kiro on one page. Every other tool has its guide in Connect your tools. You see the most a request can cost before it starts, and only the matches come out of your balance. Billing has the details. For help, email [email protected].
