Devin Desktop

Windsurf is now Devin Desktop. Add SpecStream to its agent and ask for live web data in plain words. The records come back in the session, with the same saved requests, results, projects, and balance as your SpecStream workspace.

SpecStream for Devin DesktopCoding agents

What you need

  • A SpecStream account. New accounts get $10 of work on sign-up, no card.
  • Devin Desktop.
  1. 1. Open the MCPs tab

    In the Agents window, select Customize in the agent sidebar, then the MCPs tab. Set Install MCPs for to This computer.

  2. 2. Add the server

    Open the MCP config file for the scope you want and add SpecStream. Use .devin/mcp_config.json for a project you share, .devin/mcp_config.local.json for a project file that stays personal and gitignored, or ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json for every project.

    mcp_config.json
    {
    "mcpServers": {
    "specstream": {
    "url": "https://api.specstream.ai/mcp",
    "transport": "http"
    }
    }
    }
  3. 3. Sign in to SpecStream

    When SpecStream needs a sign-in, the MCPs tab shows Needs authentication with an Authenticate button. Select it, sign in to SpecStream in the browser, and approve access. Devin supports OAuth with dynamic client registration, so there are no client credentials to set up.

  4. 4. Ask the agent

    Describe the records you want and the details to bring back on each one. For example:

    In Devin Desktop
    Find vulnerabilities published for OpenSSL in the last 90 days, with the CVSS score and the version that fixes each one.
  5. 5. Or connect with an API key

    Create a key in the workspace: open Agents & API, choose API keys, then Create API key. Send it as a header, and put it in .devin/mcp_config.local.json or the user file, never in the shared project file.

    .devin/mcp_config.local.json
    {
    "mcpServers": {
    "specstream": {
    "url": "https://api.specstream.ai/mcp",
    "transport": "http",
    "headers": {
    "Authorization": "Bearer <your SpecStream API key>"
    }
    }
    }
    }

What happens when you ask

Ask in plain words, or ask the agent to call compile with your request. SpecStream reads it back as editable parts, and quote_capacity_work prices it. Nothing is spent until you approve the maximum. authorize_capacity_work then starts the work, and rows arrive with the source URL and read time on every value.

To find saved work, ask the agent to call list_specs or list_projects. To keep results up to date, ask for a schedule: the request reruns hourly to yearly inside your spending limits, and each rerun labels what changed. See schedules and the agent guide.

Run a local server instead

Run pip install specstream-mcp-stdio and add an entry whose command is specstream-mcp-stdio, with args set to [] and env setting SPECSTREAM_API_KEY to your key.

Cost

Reading a request and pricing it cost nothing. Each row that matches costs 5¢, 15¢ or $1, depending on how much the row needs, plus 5¢ for a person's email and 15¢ for a phone. A quote lasts 30 minutes, and a run that finds nothing costs nothing. How quotes and billing work

Disconnect

Remove SpecStream from the MCP config file. On SpecStream's side, revoke Devin Desktop's access in Settings, or revoke the key in Agents & API. Results you saved stay in your workspace. For Devin's cloud agent, see the Devin guide. Questions go to [email protected].

SpecStream for Devin Desktop covers what it does in Devin Desktop on one page. Every other tool has its guide in Connect your tools. You see the most a request can cost before it starts, and the matches are paid from your balance. Billing has the details. For help, email [email protected].
