Apollo

Bring live web data into Apollo. SpecStream finds the companies and people your market is made of, including the local and new ones, each value with the page it came from, and they arrive as Apollo accounts and contacts through Zapier, n8n, Apollo's API, or a CSV file.

SpecStream for ApolloOutreach & sales

What you need

  • An Apollo account that can create accounts and contacts.
  • A SpecStream account. New accounts get $10 of work free, with no card.
  • A Zapier account or self-hosted n8n, and a SpecStream API key. The CSV route needs neither.
  1. 1. Ask for the companies and people you sell to

Describe the market the way you'd describe it to a researcher, for example HVAC contractors in Dallas with fewer than 50 employees, with their website, phone, and the owner's name and email. Companies become Apollo accounts. People become contacts, and SpecStream returns an email only when the person or business published it.

  2. 2. Connect SpecStream to Zapier

Add the SpecStream app to Zapier and connect it with an API key, as the Zapier guide shows.

Make the key in SpecStream under Agents & API, then API keys, then Create API key. A key that only receives records needs Read saved requests, Read results and their sources, and Read account and balance. Leave Project on All your projects, because the trigger registers a webhook on your account.

  3. 3. Add each record to Apollo

Start a Zap with SpecStream's New Row in a Finished List trigger. For companies, add Apollo's Create Account and map the name, website, and phone. For people, add Find or Create Contact and map the name, email, title, and company.

Fields are named the way your list names its columns. Put a Filter by Zapier step before Find or Create Contact that continues only when the email field exists.

  4. 4. Keep Apollo current

For records that arrive over time, start the Zap with New or Changed Row in a Watched List instead. In SpecStream, open the list, click Keep it current, choose how often it runs, and click Start monitor. Each run then sends only the records that are new or changed. Monitors covers cadence and limits.

With n8n or Make

n8n's built-in Apollo node creates contacts and accounts, and Make's Apollo app has Create a Contact and Create an Account. Start the workflow with SpecStream's trigger, as the n8n guide and the Make guide show.

From your own code

Apollo's API creates a contact with POST https://api.apollo.io/api/v1/contacts and an API key in the x-api-key header. Send run_dedupe: true, because without it Apollo creates a second contact for a person it already has. POST /api/v1/emailer_campaigns/{sequence_id}/add_contact_ids then adds the new contacts to a sequence.

Receive SpecStream records with a webhook when a run finishes or a monitor finds something, or read them with the REST API.

With a CSV file

In SpecStream, select the records, click Export, and download a CSV. Apollo imports contacts and accounts from a CSV and maps the headers to its fields. A contact needs at least a company name, a company website, a LinkedIn URL, or an email.

Cost

Sending records to Apollo costs nothing on SpecStream's side. SpecStream bills your balance for the records that match a request, never above the maximum you approved, and a request that finds nothing is free. Zapier, n8n, and Apollo bill for their own plans. Balance, quotes, and billing has the rates.
