What the agency says

On May 30, 2025, NHTSA published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) proposing to remove obsolete requirements from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 206, "Door locks and door retention components." The agency received no comment on the proposed changes to FMVSS No. 206 and therefore the agency is adopting the changes in this final rule.
