Exa Websets alternatives: sourced rows at a price you see first
SpecStream is the best alternative to Exa Websets for teams that want finished rows at a price they know before the run. Websets is Exa's list building and enrichment API: you send a query, a target count, criteria and enrichments, and it bills in Websets credits at rates Exa's pricing page does not state. SpecStream is the live web data engine: you ask for the data in plain words, see the most the run can cost, and get structured rows with a source URL and read time on every value, at 5¢, 15¢ or $1 a row, in your sheet, your CRM or your agent, kept up to date.
New accounts get $10 of credit for their first 30 days, no card.

Why Exa Websets buyers move to SpecStream
The price comes before the run
Websets bills credits for each result, enrichment, contact and import, and on Nov 8, 2026 Exa's pricing page did not state those rates. On SpecStream every request gets a quote of the most it can cost, good for 30 minutes, and pricing it spends nothing. Nothing runs until you approve that maximum, the charge never goes past it, and whatever the run does not use goes back to the balance. A row costs 5¢ with up to 5 facts, 15¢ with up to 15 facts and one set of related records, and $1 for a deep row.
The count you ask for
In Websets, count is a target. A SpecStream run keeps working until it reaches the count, for up to four hours on the largest lists. A result that fails one of your conditions is not delivered and not billed, and duplicates and rows you already own are never charged. For any row, get_find_decisions returns each condition's answer with its reason, the value, the source and the time it was read.
Rows that stay up to date where the team works
Save the request and it reruns hourly to yearly. Each row comes back labeled changed, unchanged or no longer matching, and new matches arrive in Slack, email, a sheet, a CRM or a signed webhook. A changed or new row costs half its rate and an unchanged row 1¢. Runs also draw on the public records SpecStream reads every morning at specstream.ai/data.

How to switch from Exa Websets
Write the query you give Websets as one sentence, with every criterion and every fact you want in it. Sign up and you get $10 of credit for your first 30 days, no card. At 5¢ a row, that is up to 200 rows. From code, this call spends nothing: the 402 reply shows how SpecStream read the request, the columns and the most it can cost.
curl -i https://api.specstream.ai/v1/agent/lists \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"request": "Series A fintech companies in Europe that raised in 2026, with the lead investor and the CFO", "count": 25}'Approve that maximum by card through Stripe's Link agent wallet, or in USDC, and you pay for the rows found. On an account, your agent uses the MCP server at https://api.specstream.ai/mcp and your team uses the workspace, from the same balance.
