What the agency says

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to amend its regulations to renew the AP1000 design certification and incorporate Revision 20 of the AP1000 design control document. The purpose of this rulemaking action is to update the AP1000 design to be consistent with changes made to the design during the licensing, construction, and operation of Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 3 and 4. This rulemaking incorporates AP1000 design control document Revision 20, which includes updates made to the AP1000 design to represent a current, construction-validated design. The NRC also proposes to issue an environmental assessment supporting this rule.
