# SpecStream for OpenAI Agents SDK

SpecStream is the live web data engine for teams and agents. Give an agent built with the OpenAI Agents SDK the SpecStream tools, and it asks for live web data in plain words and gets structured records back. Connect from your own process, or let the OpenAI API call the server for you.

## What you get

Recruiting trials, by phase

Run the agent with a request for clinical trials recruiting in Spain for type 2 diabetes, with sponsor, phase, and registry ID. Each trial comes back as one record.

In your process or hosted

MCPServerStreamableHttp connects from your own process with the key as a header. HostedMCPTool lets the OpenAI API make the calls, with the access token sent on every request.

Every call reviewed

Keep require\_approval on "always" in HostedMCPTool and each SpecStream call waits for review before it runs. Paid work still needs an approved maximum.

## Set it up

1.  Create a SpecStream API key under Agents & API and set it as SPECSTREAM\_API\_KEY.
2.  Pass MCPServerStreamableHttp with url https://api.specstream.ai/mcp and the key as a Bearer header in your Agent's mcp\_servers.
3.  Run the agent with Runner.run and a request in plain words. Paid work starts only after the maximum is approved.
