# Bolt

Ask Bolt's agent for companies, places, or records from the live web while it builds your app, approve the price, and Bolt puts the rows into the app.

## What you need

-   A Bolt account.
- A SpecStream account. New accounts get $10 of work on sign-up, no card. [Create one](https://specstream.ai/signup?utm_source=bolt).

1.  1

    ## 1. Open your connector settings

    From the Bolt homepage, click the plus icon in the chatbox, then **Connectors**, then **Manage connectors**. This opens the **Connectors (MCP)** page in your account settings.

2.  2

    ## 2. Add SpecStream as a custom connector

    Click **Custom MCP server**. Set **Name** to `SpecStream`, **URL** to `https://api.specstream.ai/mcp`, and **Transport type** to `HTTP`.

    For **Authentication**, select `MCP OAuth` and click **Connect**. Sign in to SpecStream or create an account, and approve the access Bolt asks for. Bolt shows `Connected` in the upper-right corner when it reaches SpecStream. Requests run on the account that signed in, with its balance and spending limits.

    To use a key instead, select `API key` and paste a key from [Agents & API](https://specstream.ai/workspace/agents?tab=keys&utm_source=bolt) in SpecStream. Give the key a total spending limit when you create it.

3.  3

    ## 3. Turn it on for your project

    Select **Auto-enable for all projects** to have SpecStream on in every new project. Otherwise, open the project, click the plus icon in the chatbox, click **Connectors**, and turn on the toggle next to SpecStream.

4.  4

    ## 4. Ask for data

    Describe the app and the data it needs, and name SpecStream:

    In the Bolt chat

    ```text
    Build a directory of specialty coffee roasters in Portland, Oregon. Use SpecStream to find them, with each roaster's website, address, and opening hours.
    ```

## What happens when you ask

SpecStream reads the request back, then quotes the most it can cost. Nothing runs until you approve that price. Rows arrive with the source URL and read time on every value. Bolt then writes them into the app it is building.

## Cost

Connecting SpecStream to Bolt is free. Reading a request and pricing it cost nothing. Each matching row costs 5¢, 15¢ or $1, depending on how much the row needs, plus 5¢ for a person's email and 15¢ for a phone. A quote lasts 30 minutes, a run can't cost more than the maximum you approved, and a run that finds nothing costs nothing. [Balance, quotes, and billing](https://specstream.ai/docs/billing.md) has the details.

## Disconnect

To stop Bolt using SpecStream in a project, turn its toggle off under **Connectors** in the chatbox. To end its access on the SpecStream side, open **Agents & API** in your workspace, choose **OAuth applications**, and revoke Bolt, or revoke the key under **API keys**. Your saved results stay in your workspace. Questions go to [support@specstream.ai](mailto:support@specstream.ai).

[SpecStream for Bolt](https://specstream.ai/integrations/bolt.md) covers what it does in Bolt on one page. Every other tool has its guide in [Connect your tools](https://specstream.ai/docs/integrations.md). You see the most a request can cost before it starts, and the matches are paid from your balance.
